Solo Rules and More!
It's been nearly a year since I released the first version of Merchant Mappers v. the Infinite Dark Universe and I've wanted to update the game with some rules I wanted to include when I first wrote it. Since I created the game for the one-page rpg jam, it felt wrong to include a second page. Since then, I've realized that there is actually a lot I'd like to expand upon, and have toyed with the idea of creating a much larger 'deluxe' version of the game. However, since that would be a much larger project, I've decided to clean up and release the second page as is.
The added rules are entirely optional, and exist to provide a bit of added depth to the game. Mostly though, this updated version includes a wealth of new ways to play, including guidelines for multiple players of different roles, sharing prompts and maps, and most excitingly a full on solo mode!
The new solo rules are fairly straightforward, but provide some unique twists to keep the world mysterious as you explore it. I recommend including most of the optional rules when you play it, but you're free to play however you want! You can even use the game as a framework for other solo adventures in different systems.
I hope you enjoy this updated and slightly revised version! Let me know if you'd like to see more Merchant Mappers in the future as I've developed a lot of ideas in the past year playing the game on-and-off.
