Planets 7 and 8 are now live!

Howdy!

Planets #7 and #8 are now available for download as part of the Exoplanet Index. They are:

  • Fresco, a world of water and thin islands. Dominated by monsoons and scientists.
  • Mōk'Mōk', a winter resort world with a secret below the ice.

These two new planets are as similar as they are different, both include a new section (spoilers: it's a new Ecology section), but are both totally unique in other ways, namely climate. I'm also a lot happier with how the art of these planets has turned out too. That has inspired me to go back and improve the art of a couple older worlds.

While I am really happy with how the text and images have turned out, the layout and presentation of the contents remains both bare bones and a little underwhelming. I would really love to include both more art and an improved layout while retaining the existing prose. My wish then is to have some spreads of the more interesting worlds presented in a format similar to a DK Eyewitness or National Geographic book, kind of like a fictional "illustrated guide". I think there's a lot of fun to be had, though I'll likely have to fund anything more than the planet art and text that I can write myself. Likely, the next version (with 10 planets) will likely be PWYW. However, I do want to release all the planet art that I've made totally for free and out into the public domain, so once there's enough I'll include a separate download for those, which will always be free regardless of what I end up charging for a more finished book.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who has already downloaded the book and especially those who have provided feedback! I am very excited for how the project is going and it seems like other folks are too. Thanks!
