v0.3.0 ● New map symbols

Howdy!

I'm excited to share a new v0.3.0 update. If you're tired of circles, you're in luck! This version adds three new symbols for your map making pleasure. This should be extra exciting for fans of the TTRPG Mothership, as these symbols often feature in system maps for those games to represent other objects in space. From what I gather:

• Squares represent general anomalies and space objects, such as asteroids
• Diamonds represent space stations
• Triangles represent space craft/ships

Above is an example map using all the new symbols. There's also an option to prevent rotating the symbols if their parents rotate, meaning triangles always point up, for example.

I am absolutely thrilled people love this project so much, and will continue to add more features and support in the future! Unfortunately, I never expected this project to get as much attention as it has, and in truth, it was always meant as a small side project and experiment. I've stretched the original code as far as it can go, and adding more and more features will mean having to contest with jank and an overly cluttered UI. I would have loved to add alternate colour schemes for example, but the original design simply can't handle that.

The next update, probably v1.0.0, will be a full rewrite with a few new shiny features to make it worth the wait. Alternate and custom colour schemes, better pan and zoom controls, revamped random generation, and better UI. I look forward to the day when I can release that, but for now, enjoy the new update.

v0.3.0

This is the second minor update for v0. Please report any bugs you notice so I can fix them.

• Added custom planet shapes:
  • Circle
  • Square
  • Diamond
  • Triangle
• Added a new setting: Apply rotation to hosts. When checked, planet shapes will rotate when their parents are rotated.
